| New Computer |
[Dec. 12th, 2008|05:15 pm] |
Okay first of all, Last Remnant is awesome, and I'm almost 100% sure it's a SaGa game.
Second, I never post here.
Finally, I want to get a new computer after I've been working for a month or so (btw I got a new job, a GOOD job). I'm leaning towards an Alienware Aurora which would be about $30 a month. I'd have to get a monitor and a wireless card, though, and for the colors I'm between silver and yellow, black and yellow, and silver and green (strongly for the latter). The alternative would be to get a Dell Inspiron 530 for about the same price, but it would have EVERYTHING.
Anyway, suggestions would be appreciated, especially about what wireless card I should get. |

[Jun. 10th, 2008|08:40 pm] |
So Mark and I have been sporadically playing IIDX, and making slow progress, mostly because we don't play that much. I'm not going to get it just because I don't want to get ahead of him because I would probably play it like a maniac and he makes a good rival as long as we play at the same pace, so yeah.
Anway, Konami has a poor idea of what constitutes a 5, and the leap between 5 and 6 is..I mean look at Ganymede -- WTF??
Regardless, I'll get to try out Gold whenever Mark comes next, which is pretty cool, but there is some bemani rule that if there is a song I like, it will inevitably be removed from the next version. |

I have pwned this journal temporarily. Andrew is obsessed in the moment with trying to get rid of the alcohol in his system and telling people that "Everyone is a Champion". I'm just browsing lj on andrew's account. Everyone else is playing Mario Party 8 on the Wii or watching people play the Wii.
We also played some other drinking games but I'm getting kind of sleepy with all of this going on. I can't believe it'

1. After working perfectly, laptop begins to get random memory errors such as "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" and "an attempt was made to write to read only memory." Computer will either not boot at all, boot slightly (strangest) or BSOD after a few minutes relative to how long it had been off. No new hardware/software used. All diags pass (if the computer doesn't crash before they've all been completed). 2. Dell tech support assumes the problem is with the hard drive. They were called on the 11th, so a new hard drive can't be received until at least the 14th. In the meantime, no computer. 3. On the 16th, two (?) new hard drives are received. Attempts to boot from newly acquired XP+SP2 CD fail shortly due to similar problems from before. Ergo, HDD is not the problem. 4. Dell tech support is called again. Technician responds with a "huh.." after hearing the specifics of the problem. After an hour of deliberating and unsuccessful attempts at running diags, among other things, New motherboard and ram are ordered to be put in by an on site technician ASAP. 5. Old HDD reinstalled so all old files can be kept. It still works after all. 6. On the 17th, the two new hard drives are returned via UPS in order to prevent billing for erroneous shipment of parts. Call received indicated that on site technician will not be available until 18th. 7. Over the weekend, parents are billed $600 for the new hard drives. This mistake is solved thanks to the tracking number on the UPS reciept. 8. Call received stating that on site technician will not be available until the 21st. 9. Technician arrives, new motherboard and memory installed. Memory errors are fixed. 10. But now the keyboard is broken. A lot of the lower keys won't respond. The same technician caused this to happen with the same keyboard a few months ago and it was due to debris getting lodged in the plug during work and not being removed. Attempts to reseat the keyboard fail. Technician doesn't know how to properly ventilate the computer so he potentially damages hard drive by forcing the machine to overheat a few times in spite of explanations which goes largely ignored. Technician puts new feet on the computer with little affect. Orders new fan and new heat sink. 10. Technician returns to install new keyboard, processor, and heat sink. Dell doesn't like to send out fans apparently, so a new fan was not received. New keyboard works perfectly. Regretably, there were no other problems, but installation of the other new (and unnecessary parts) results in the fan not working at all. Technician leaves before the error is realized. 11. Computer shuts down due to overheating (it has no fan..). It is kept cool with frozen peas and great demands on the hard drive are avoided. 12. Internet has extremely low, almost unusable bandwidth. Apartment complex is addressed. The old IT guy for the complex has been fired and no one working at the complex knows how to deal with such issues. ISP is apparently not responsible for problems related to the equipment it provides for the complex. 13. Dell is called about the fan issue. Dell technician says to call the onsite technician the next day (the 23rd). 14. On site technician is called. He says that the work order has been closed and a new one can be created only through Dell tech support. In spite of this, he orders a new fan and heat sink. 15. Fan is replaced, computer is back to normal. |

Thanks everyone, I had an awesome time last night. My only disappointments were minor and related to other people's enjoyment; I wanted everyone to have fun all the time. I did though so that's a good accomplishment. Particular thanks to Jelani for risking his Wii.
I'm sorry for showing up an hour late and high to my own party in my own home. But I did wear jeans. The cake was really good as were the drinks. |

[Jan. 27th, 2007|12:04 am] |
I'm turning 21 on Thursday and I want YOU to be a part of it. So I'm having a party Saturday night. Specifically 9 pm Saturday night, but you can come and go as you please. I'd actually prefer it if some of you came and left several times during the night.
It will entail drinking and various video games including Wii and GC. Also board card and drinking games. But mostly drinking. Maybe some pot, i dunno.
Well if you can see this, you're invited. Many who can't see this are invited as well, and feel free to bring people if you want. I'm banking on it not getting stupidly over crowded cuz frankly I don't know that many people. I live in Windsor Park (it's accross from Lexington Crossing) Apt. 512 B. If you need more specific instructions ask cuz I don't plan on my LJ reaching..well anyone. BYOB. And if anyone other than me gets piss drunk you can stay here for the night. |

I want to accomplish a whole bunch of things this semester so before I forget I've decided to write them all down here for all to see; let's see how well I do by the end:
1. Get good grades (at least 2 As, preferably all As) This shouldn't be too bad and I'm off to a good start. 2. Beat a whole bunch of video games, namely: Paper Mario 2, Metroid Prime 2, Metroid Zero Mission, Earthbound Zero, Sweet Home, and Twilight Princess (which I don't own). Actually I only own the first two, but I can emulate the other three. 3. Get a job and do good in that job. Step 1 is complete. 4. Meet more people, or at least hang out with people I already know but usually ignore. This isn't as hard as I probably thought it was. 5. Clean more often. I cleaned today, which is more than I cleaned last semester.
That's really everything. I suppose I should add get a Wii to the list, but I won't. |

It's great to be a Florida Gator |
